As Hilton Head eases into its sunniest stretch of the year, the island shifts into full swing. Warmer days, longer evenings, and a steady lineup of events make this the moment to get out and make the most of it.

Spring’s soundtrack is already lined up, starting with a run of live shows featuring our own Jim Hall. The Chilly Willy crew will be making the rounds with their signature mix of jazz, blues, and classic rock—catch them at the Black Marlin on May 2 and June 5, or head to HHP Community Park on May 3 for an outdoor set. They’ll also bring the energy to Local Legend on May 8 and June 12.

If you’re looking to switch things up, make plans for April 29 at Kind of Blue, where WGB takes the stage with a lively set of crowd-favorite covers.

If you’re in the mood for a night indoors (with air conditioning and a standing ovation), the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina delivers. “Hairspray: The Broadway Musical” takes the stage in late April and runs into May, followed by special appearances like mentalist Matt Cooper and a summer production of “Mean Girls: The Musical.”

Looking to slow things down a bit? Step into the island’s deeper history with a Gullah Heritage Trail Tour. These guided experiences offer a meaningful look at the culture, language, and traditions of the Gullah people—an essential part of the Lowcountry story. Tours run most days and provide a perspective you won’t find just strolling the beach.

You can continue that thread at the Coastal Discovery Museum, where hands-on programs, from Lowcountry reptiles to kids story time, bring the island’s ecology and heritage into focus. It’s the kind of place where you might plan a quick visit and end up staying for hours.

By Memorial Day weekend, evenings belong to the Liberty Oak in Harbour Town. The Gregg Russell Summer Concerts return, drawing families and longtime visitors alike for singalongs that have become a Hilton Head tradition.

For something a little more creative, the Sea Pines Beach Club hosts tie-dye sessions throughout the summer. Whether it’s a T-shirt or a bandana for your four-legged companion, it’s an easygoing way to make a colorful souvenir.

And for the adults, there’s always the option to raise a glass. A tour and tasting at the Hilton Head Distillery offers a behind-the-scenes look at rum production, with the bonus of sampling the finished product. If you’re feeling ambitious, the mixology classes take things a step further.

Of course, no matter what’s on your schedule, one activity never goes out of season here. With miles of scenic paths and ocean breezes built in, biking remains the easiest and arguably best way to take it all in. Whether you’re renting a cruiser or setting off on an e-bike tour, it’s the kind of experience that turns a good day into a great one.
