Hilton Head Island is known for its sun-soaked days, but once a year, the night takes center stage. On Saturday, Nov. 22, the annual Lantern Parade returns, transforming Coligny Beach into a glowing riverscape of creativity and community spirit.

Hundreds of handcrafted lanterns made by locals and illuminated by artist Chantelle Rytter’s signature designs will drift through the evening, creating one of the island’s most memorable sights. And while the experience is magical, getting around can be tricky. That’s why Jim has pulled together a few tips to make your Lantern Parade adventure smooth and fun, as well as wonderfully bright.

Arrive on two wheels
Skip the parking hassle and roll right up to the festivities. Rent an e-bike with built-in headlights or grab a set of lights for your own bike at our shop. You’ll glide into the celebration safely and stress-free.

Kick off the evening beachside
Before the parade begins, grab a cocktail at the Tiki Hut. You can people-watch, soak in the atmosphere and even enjoy the parade from your seat if you feel like staying put.

Make it a musical night
This year’s parade features four bands, but the music doesn’t stop there. Jim suggests hopping between local favorites like The Sandbar, FISH, and the Big Bamboo Café for even more live performances. Or circle back to the Tiki Hut for cocktails, tunes, and glowing lantern views.

Elevate your outing
If you’re in the mood for something extra special, Jim recommends booking dinner at The Sage Room—an excellent way to cap off an already unforgettable night.

The parade lineup starts at 4:45 p.m., and the procession begins just after sunset at 5:30 p.m. However you celebrate, make sure you’re there because the island really shines brightest on Lantern Parade night.
