Can I ride my bike on the beach?
Yes! All bikes except mountain bikes can be ridden on the beach. We ask that you do not ride bikes in the water, as the salt water is extremely corrosive to the parts.
*Please note: Sea Pines, Shipyard and Hilton Head Plantation do not allow electric bikes.
Do I need to lock my bike? How does the lock open?
Yes, bikes should be locked at all times when not in use. There is a $250 charge per bike for any bike that is stolen. Four-digit locks open by holding the lock body in your left hand and pulling the right hook only.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
South Carolina law does not require helmets for cyclists. But we care about your safety and strongly encourage riders to wear helmets. We offer helmet rentals for $5 per week for those who want additional protection.
What is a Tagalong? What is a WeeHoo?
A Tagalong (also known as an Alleycat) is a single-wheel attachment that connects to an adult bike, allowing children up to 75 pounds to ride along without pedaling. We now offer Burley Tagalongs that firmly attach to an adult bicycle rear rack and do not sway side to side.
We also rent WeeHoos, which are similar to the Tagalongs in that they attach to an adult bicycle, but the child sits in a seat with a backrest and safety harness. The child may pedal if they wish but will be more secure than in a Tagalong. For those children without bicycle experience, this is a great alternative. WeeHoos fit children from 2 to 8 years old with an adjustable seat and a maximum weight capacity of 75 pounds.
What can I put in the trailer?
The kid trailers fit two children with a combined weight of 100 pounds. Due to seat configuration and seat belt placement, infant car seats cannot be secured in the child trailer. Placing pets in the child trailer may result in damage, which will be billed accordingly.
We rent pet trailers as well as gear trailers, perfect for hauling coolers, chairs, towels and other beach essentials. These trailers have a maximum load limit of 100 pounds.
Additionally, we offer pull trailers designed for walking to the beach while carrying chairs, coolers and more. Photos of all trailer options can be found on the rental page.
Do you have tandem and adult tricycles?
Yes! We rent both tandem bikes and three-wheel adult tricycles. We currently do not offer electric trikes.
Do you have geared bikes?
Yes, we rent geared bikes; however, they may not be ridden on the beach. We also have a limited supply of hybrid bikes available. Please call to reserve as we have several different frame sizes available.
Where can I ride my bike?
Hilton Head Island offers extensive bike paths maintained by the town and volunteers. Maps are available here: [DIRECT LINK]. You can also ride on the hard-packed sand along the beach—covering 12 miles. In fact, it may be the quickest and most fun way to get around! However, please avoid riding in the salt water.

When riding on roads, always go with the flow of traffic. If a bike path runs alongside the road, please use it. Be mindful of pedestrians, always signal when passing, and obey all traffic signs. At intersections and crosswalks, cars have the right of way.
How do I place an order for bikes?
For the best experience, place your order several days before check-in using our secure online ordering form or by calling us at 843-686-6888. Please have your complex name and unit number or house address, check-in and check-out dates, and credit card numbers handy.
How do bikes get delivered?
For three-day rentals or longer, bike delivery is free to many areas of Hilton Head Island. In most cases, bikes will be in a bike rack near your accommodation by the time you check-in. They will be locked, and we will text you the combination to the lock. We will automatically pick up your bikes on your departure day.

It’s easy—simply call us between 9 and 5 at 843-686-6888, and we will dispatch a replacement. The phone number is also prominently displayed on all bikes and accessories for easy access.
Do I need to be present for bike delivery?
