On July 30, our community gathered to unveil the new pathway and boardwalk at Shelter Cove Community Park, dedicated to Frank Babel in recognition of his extraordinary advocacy for cycling accessibility on Hilton Head Island. Frank has been instrumental in helping Hilton Head achieve Gold-Level Bicycle Friendly Community status through the League of American Bicyclists, ensuring safe, accessible biking for residents and visitors alike.
Frank has been instrumental in turning the island into the bike-friendly destination it is today—championing safer pathways, fostering community support, and inspiring riders of all ages. This pathway naming is a wonderful celebration of his continuing impact.
We were thrilled to be part of the occasion. Our owner, Jim Hall, spoke with WHHI‑TV about how important bike access is to our community and had the opportunity to showcase our bicycles as part of the first rides on the new pathway. It was a perfect moment that highlighted both Frank’s lasting efforts and our commitment to encouraging a healthy, active lifestyle through cycling.
The new pathway and boardwalk aren’t just a scenic route — they’re living proof of what unified community vision can create. We’re proud to help carry that forward by making biking accessible, fun, and memorable for everyday riders. View the full interview here.
